GermBlast was created in 2009 by Rodney Madsen, Cade Underwood and Josh Underwood. Their goal was to provide a high-level environmental disinfection program that could be implemented in a variety of industries. Rodney grew up along the east coast of the U.S. After graduating from high school, he moved to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech University. He graduated with a Master of Business from Wayland Baptist University after studying Business Management and Engineering Technology, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Public Health. Rodney is a successful entrepreneur and epidemiologist, and has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Rodney has been married for 19 years and has two children. In his down time, he enjoys mountain biking and traveling with his family. He is currently serving on the Parkridge Pregnancy Advisory Council.
Cade grew up in Lubbock, Texas and graduated from Monterey High School. He attended Texas Tech University and played football for the Red Raiders. Cade graduated from Lubbock Christian University with a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management. The Underwood family has been in the cotton and ranching business for over 30 years. Cade has been married for 20 years and has three children. He enjoys spending time with his family and working at the Underwood family ranch. For the last 22 years, he has been the Assistant Fire Chief for the Woodrow Volunteer Fire Department.
Josh graduated from Lubbock Christian High School. He graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice from West Texas A&M and has worked in the Underwood family business since graduating from college. Josh has been married for 16 years and has 4 children. His hobbies include golfing, skiing and spending time with his family. Josh has also served as the President of the Lubbock Cotton Exchange, was on the Texas Cotton Association Board of Directors, and is currently a member of the Southcrest Christian Schools School Board.
Wes Goldwater, CSSGB, T-CHEST

Wes joined the GermBlast team in April 2012. His professional background includes process development and innovation in the medical device and tissue banking industries. A native of Lubbock, TX, Goldwater graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of business administration from Lubbock Christian University in 2004 and received an MBA in general business and an advanced certificate in health organization management from Texas Tech University in 2007. Goldwater’s personal interests involve mountain biking and computer programming.
Christopher Truitt, Ph.D., T-CHEST

Dr. Truitt first joined the GermBlast team in October of 2010 as the Microbiologist and Biochemist. He grew up in Lovington, New Mexico before moving to Colorado and then Texas. Dr. Truitt graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Chemistry from Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado, and later completed his Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Texas Tech University. He taught for Wayland Baptist University and Texas Tech University for the past 13 years. Dr. Truitt has been married for 13 years and has one child. Kim joined the GermBlast team in August of 2011. Kim was grew up in Lubbock and graduated from New Deal High School. She studied Education at Texas Tech University and received her certification in Human Resources. Kim owned her own business for 20 years before moving to the medical field for the last 9 years. Kim has been married for 33 years and has 3 children and 6 grandchildren. She loves spending time with family and gardening.
Regional Operations Manager
Michael joined the GermBlast team in July of 2012 as a Field Service Technician. He grew up in Sherman, Texas and graduated from Sherman High School – home of the Bearcats! Michael graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in Leisure Service Management. He later graduated from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Christian Leaderhip. Michael’s primary experience prior to GermBlast was in Christian camp ministry. He has been married to his wife for eight years and they have one child. Michael enjoys watching OSU sports, playing golf, and various church activities.
Scheduling / Workforce Manager
Trey joined the GermBlast team in June of 2014 after a winding career path that included stops in law, cotton farming, and children’s ministry along the way. Trey has a strong foundation in legal research and writing, having received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2011 after graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Texas Tech University in 2008. A true word-nerd, Trey loves to read and write, and jumped at the opportunity to compose the monthly GermBlast Newsletter. When he’s not at work, you can often find Trey with his headphones in while out on a run, or working on one of several home improvement projects around the house.
Nidal joined the GermBlast team in 2015 as a Service Technician and is currently part of the GermBlast Research Team. Nidal was born in Lubbock, TX. He graduated from Texas Tech University where he earned a bachelor’s of science in microbiology. Before joining the team, Nidal worked in the medical device industry. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, snowboarding, and maintaining a vegetable garden with his wife.

Mike joined the GermBlast team in June of 2013 after spending 37 years in public education. He was a school teacher, coach, athletic director, principal, and superintendent of schools at Sundown ISD for 18 years. Mike was raised on a farm in Kress, Texas, received a Bachelor of Science Degree from West Texas State University in Secondary Education and specialized in math. He earned his Masters of in Educational Administration and his principal and superintendent certifications through Texas Tech University. He has been married for 40 years and has 3 children and six grandchildren. Mike enjoys yard work, exercise, reading and various church activities.

Phil joined the GermBlast team in June of 2017. He grew up and in and graduated from Brownfield High School. Phil received a Bachelor of Science degree from West Texas State University in 1981 and a Master of Education degree from Sul Ross State University in 1989. He spent 35 years in the Lockney school system as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal and superintendent. Phil has been married for 35 years and has two sons. Phil enjoys exercise, golf, fishing, music, and spending time with family.
Steve joined the GermBlast team in September of 2015. He grew up in Hart Camp, Texas and graduated from Olton High School. Steve attended Sul Ross University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1973. He then went on to receive his Master of Education from Sul Ross University in 1988. Steve began teaching and coaching in Sanderson, Texas and retired from education with 38 years of experience, the last of which as the Superintendent at Tahoka Independent School District. Steve has been married for 46 wonderful years and has two children and five grandchildren. He enjoys spending time with his family, hunting and traveling.
Christy joined the GermBlast team in April of 2015. She was raised in Coleman, Texas and graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She is currently taking graduate classes at Wayland Baptist University and Texas Tech University. Prior to GermBlast, Christy served as Director of Stewardship and Events for Athletics and the Red Raider Club. She has been married for 22 years and has 5 daughters. Her hobbies include trying to keep up with her daughters’ activities and reading.

Stephen joined the GermBlast team in October of 2013. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and has lived in a variety of places including Germany, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, California and all over Texas. Stephen has been married for 13 years and has 4 children. When he is not working, he enjoys camping and being outdoors, especially on the lake, river or the ocean, but is content being outside mowing his lawn.
Executive Sales Assistant
Shelly Stone joined the GermBlast team in July of 2015 as the Executive Sales Assistant. Shelly grew up in a family of educators and lived several places in Texas, but she attended and graduated from Abernathy High School. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech University and her Master of Science in School Counseling from Lubbock Christian University. Following college, Shelly worked in Marketing for one year and then spent the last fifteen years in education either teaching business classes or serving as a school counselor. Shelly has been married for seventeen years and has three boys. Outside of work she enjoys photography and cheering on her boys in all of their activities.

Heath joined the GermBlast team in 2016 as a Service Technician and is now a Service Supervisor. He was born in Amarillo, TX. Heath earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Texas Tech University, and continued his education there, earning his master’s in Sports Management as well. Before joining the team, Heath worked in physical therapy and was a graduate assistant for the Texas Tech Baseball team. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, sports, church activities and spending time with his family.
